HART CEO PROMISES MORE TRANSPARENCY

On Tuesday, April 10, Daniel Grabauskas, the new executive director and CEO of the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART), promised greater transparency for the Honolulu rail transit project.

“Transparency and a culture of openness are among my top goals,” Grabauskas said. “This is the largest public works project in Hawaii’s history and taxpayers have a right to know how their money is being spent. We will consistently provide accurate information and increase the amount of information we make available to the public. We intend to show that we are good stewards of your tax dollars.”

As HART’s new chief executive, Grabauskas runs the agency responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the $5.2 billion rail project. The HART board of directors selected him as the new CEO/executive director in March.

The 20-mile Oahu rail transit system running from East Kapolei to Ala Moana is expected to open in 2019. For updates on construction work days and times and more details about the project, visit the project website at www.honolulutransit.org or contact HART’s hotline at 566-2299.
