On Saturday, June 9, the first column for the Honolulu rail transit project was unveiled at Ho`opili. The above ground portion of the column stands 23 feet nine inches high requiring approximately 33 cubic yards of concrete.
Mayor Peter Carlisle was understandably pleased with the progress, saying, ”After 40 years and all of the starts and stop it looks like beauty personified.” Mayor Carlisle has emphasized, “As your Mayor, I have been committed to this project and I will see this project through to completion.” It is great to see concrete proof of the project’s progress.
Additional column’s transition zones will be poured in the next weeks.
